A young woman from the Coutances area who could not help but sacrifice most of her hair. Hair merchants from Paris visit the local fairs in Normandy, Brittany and Auvergne to buy hair to use in wigs. Hand-colored fashion plate illustration by Lante engraved by Gatine from Louis-Marie Lante's "Costumes des femmes du Pays de Caux," 1827/1885.
