Hebecame one of the teachers in the cityschools of Dresden, and later was em-ployed as a private tutor in the fami-lies of prominent Protestants in Bo-hemia. He again connected himselfwith the city schools of Dresden. Hissuperior ability was soon recognizedand he was given the position of headteacher in the Budig institute. Whileconnected with that institution the twomost vital events of his life was the securing of a wife, thedaughter of the principal of the normalcollege, who was his faithful helpmeetfor a half a century, evincing a devo-. tion seldom equalled even by her ownsex. His wife was the sister of Schoenfelt of East Brighton,and also of Camilla Cobb. The fatherof these girls, Emmanuel Meith, diedwhen Camilla was a little girl, and adopted her. She was broughtup under the good mans teachings andexample, and was brought to Utah byhim. The other event was that whichturned the current of his life, the meet-ing with three Mormon missionaries,viz. the late Apostle Franklin D. Rich-ards. Pres.
