Abnormal pregnancies. Historical artwork of a woman's body, cut open to reveal two abnormal pregnancies. Each foetus has an umbilical cord connecting the foetus to the mother through a separate placenta. The umbilical cords are wrapped around the necks of the foetuses, which could cause complications during birth. This artwork is by Francois Jollat and was published in 1545 in De dissectione partium corporis humani by Charles Esteinne.
