Chestnut-red, shining above and clothed with tawny hairs beneath. It is a compact globose insect. The liead is densely punctured and the clypeus bluntly pointed. The prothorax is transverse, strongly rounded at the sides, with the front angles obtuse, the hind angles little marked, and the base feebly prominent in the middle. (S. The cephalic horn is broad, smooth beyond the base, strongly reclined, and in well developed specimens dilated at the end and obtusely triangular at the exti-emity. The prothorax is deeply excavated from the front almost to the hind margin, and the sides of the excavation are almost straight, diverging gently to the front, slightly carinate anteriorly and produced on each side i2.
