It united with the first centre schooldistrict in procuring the present site, and built a basement hall, towhich their school-li(nise was removed from the Common and placedabove. The hall was first occupied Oct. 7, 1839 : it was in use twentv-one years, and destroyed by fire, Oct. 2, 1860. The present town-hall,built upon the same site, with the same copartnership, was first used inOctober, 1862.
