I find llic worm hid- den in tlic soil at the root of the plant in the morning. Some of .the plants are cut off at the soil, but in most cases the worms go to the top and eat the huds. Will you tell me what I can do for the plants? C. A. S.—Va. It would 1)0 advisable to mix a poisoned mash of fresh shorts, molasses, Paris green and lemon juice. As you have a large patch of delphiniums, it would be advisal)le to mix as follows: Twenty pounds of fresh shorts, or bran, ten ((uarts of thin molasses, one pound Paris grecHj juice of three lemons and three and one-half gallons of water. First mix the ])ran and Paris green dry. Squeeze the juice of the lemons in water and cut the pulp fine; then add gradually to and mix well with the bran and Paris green. Scatter this in little patches all over the soil covered by your i)lants, preferably in the eve- ning, as cutworms work at night. Keep chickens and ducks away from your larksj)ur patch. Continue this method and it will clean out the cutworms. Another season, adopt it at first sight of the pests. C. W. Coshocton,
