LCIS Close in for Invasion of Cape Sansapor. Columns of troop-packed LCI's trail in the wake of a Coast Guard-manned LST en route for the invasion of Cape Sansapor, Japanese base on the western end of Dutch New Guinea. The deck of the LST is closely packed with motorized fighting equipment, while anti-aircraft guns are manned ready to meet enemy attacks from the sky. The picture was made from the crow's nest of the LST.
