Slaughtering pigs. 19th-century illustration of the first stage in the process of preparing salted pork. The stages are: slaughtering pigs in an abattoir, cutting up the meat, rendering it, and salting and packing it. This chromolithograph (one of four) was published in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA. The artworks had been exhibited by the Cincinnati Pork Packers' Association, at the International Exposition held in Vienna, Austria-Hungary, from May to October 1873.
