Molecular model of the group II intron from Oceanobacillus iheyensis. This self-splicing ribozyme uses its own RNA structure to catalyze its own splicing reaction. Intronistat B (not shown) can inhibit the splicing activity of group II introns which could potentially kill the deep sea bacterium.
