Mayflies UK
A mayfly resting on vegetation during a mayfly hatch on the banks of the Dorset Stour River, Dorset England UK GB. When the mayfly hatch it can be in great numbers and they have a courtship known as the Dance of the mayflies where the males display an up and down flight pattern. Fishing for trout during the mayfly hatch is very popular as the trout feast on the mayflies and will take artificial flies designed to imitate a mayfly. The period in the UK is often referred to as Duffer’s Fortnight as the trout are deemed easy to catch by even inexperienced anglers.
