The Lord Mayor of Cardiff, the Lord Lieutenant of South Glamorgan, representatives from the armed forces, cadets and veterans participated in a flag raising ceremony at Cardiff Castle today. The event is a part of Armed Forces Week. Shenkin, the mascot goat of The Royal Regiment of Wales, was also in attendance as a specially commissioned flag was handed from along a relay of representatives, including, serving soldiers, an air cadet, a veteran and a soldier dressed in a First World War uniform. Following prayers and a short address by the Lord Mayor, the flag was unfurled over the castle. Armed Forces Day is on Saturday the 27th of June.
