NEG Micon Megawatt (MW) wind turbine, High Volts wind farm, Hartlepool, County Durham, UK.

At the time of construction in 2004, this turbine at High Volts Wind Farm was the largest and most powerful in the UK. A locally based company, AMEC Wind Services, initially developed the site and provided project management during the construction phase. Construction on site began in the summer of 2003, with the turbines delivered to Hartlepool docks and then transported in sections to site in October 2003. High Volts Wind Farm can generate enough power to supply over 4,000 homes and displaces the emission of over 17,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide each year.
