A grain of opium with a drop of creosote twice daily; the con-stant application of bran poultices to the belly ; ice, to relieve thirst,and a turpentine enema. huh .January.—Mad a good night; pulse 96; constipation;hiccup more frequent, and occasional bilious vomiting; tonguenatural; pain and tenderness in the hypogastrium diminished;hernia larger, much more tense, and of anything more was neither (edematous nor tender to pressure. In the eveninghiccup and vomiting had ceased. The great amount of fluid in the herniary sac rendered it sotense and heavy that the patient felt greatly alarmed lest it shouldburst.
