This image shows a dugout located beneath a wrecked railway bridge in the captured salient of St. Mihiel during World War I. The dugout was used to house American officers before their advance into the salient. The bridge was destroyed by the French four years earlier to prevent the Germans from utilizing it. This photograph was released by the Censor, and the exact date is unknown. (50 words)
