To thisfact probably the village owes its name Nara-mundali (the place of human sacrifices). Tradition says, that the temple of the Goddesswas built bj^ the Bhanja Raja Casana which was granted here by hisyoungest son, Prince Balabhadra Bhanja, wasknown among the people as KumaraBalabhadra-pur-Casana. This name was latterly corrupt-ed into Kumar-Casana and later still to. 40 . !!!(tlKi;. Koma^asana. Tlie ruins of this Kiimara-Casanastill exist in the northern part ol oL* stone with artistic carvings there-on are fonnd underground hejc. TJie place islikely to yield rich material for histoiy in theshape of ancient relics to systematic and welldirected excavations. We are not, however, i:)repared to acceptthe tradition crediting liaja Vira Vikramadityawith having built the temple. IJaja ViraVikramaditya fiourished 250 years ago, and mostlikely the temple was deserted before that temple was erected long Ijefore the time ofthis Eaja, dnring Cakta ascendancy. There arealso other considerations which cannot beignored. Vikramaditya was a Vaisnava byfaith and the present Ikadlia-mohana templeof Ilaripur and Gundicha of Vrudavauapur( Vira Vikramaditya Casana ), were built by likely lialabhadra Bhafija stayed here andgranted the Casana^- in behalf of his
