St. Michaels Hall and School, on Elliot Street. twenty-five children in each were taught in accordance with Frobels June, 1883, the Springfield Kindergarten Association was formed to carryon the work for the following year, with Mrs. J. R. Hixon as president;Miss E. M. Ames, vice-president; and Miss A. A. Pease, secretary. Thekindergartens opened Sept. 10, 1883 ; and twenty children are taught in each,ranging in age from three to five. All the materials used are donated bythe Milton Bradley Company. The Springfield Collegiate Institute, established in 1874 by Rev. M. C.
