If a student has taken the examina-tions, but has failed in one or several of the branches he maytry the examination again within two weeks; if he fails inthe final examinations, he may study during the summerand take the same examination at the opening of the nextschool-year; a student who purposely neglects or refuses totake the examinations, will be regarded as having failed; astudent who is lawfully prevented from appearing for theexaminations, must take them at the professors earliest con-venience; should he then refuse to do so, we shall regardhim as having failed. 24. DEGREES. The degree of BACHELOR OF ARTS or BACHELOROF SCIENCE is conferred on a student who gave evidenceof his sufficient knowledge of the various studies prescribedin the respective course, and passed satisfactory examina-tions. The aspirant is required to write an essay, a copyof which will be kept in the college archives. The degree of MASTER OF ARTS will be granted tonone save Bachelors of Arts, and that of MASTER OFSCIENCE to none save Bachelors of Science. Three yearsof further study in a professional, literary, or scientificcourse, to be approved by the Faculty, are required for thisdiploma. The aspirants are required to submit a thesis,which is to be preserved in the archives of the for the A. M. should be made before April 1.
