Supporters and members of Detroit Coalition Against Tar Sands (DCATS) block a truck hauling petroleum coke to the controversial storage facility and docks along the Detroit River in June 2012. With Detroit police and Homeland Security officers standing by, the group held the truck for nearly three hours before agreeing to allow it to turn around without dumping its load of pet coke. Petroleum coke was stored uncovered along the Detroit River from 2012, until late 2013 when the city ordered the toxic piles removed after a public outcry over environmental concerns.
