The US Coast Guard recovered 350 dead sharks finding an illegal 5-mile-long gill net floating 4 miles offshore December 24, 2012 near South Padre Island, TX. The dead sharks were composed of 225 black tips, 109 bonnet head and 11 bull sharks. The sharks are illegally hunted for their shark fin used in soups and medicine in asia.
