If spare frames are at hand, thev may be used to advantage by setting them over a portion of the bed, and forcing the dandelions under them, thus forwarding a portion of the crop. Dande- lions make an excellent salad if blanched by earthing-up, or placing boards to exclude the light. Thick-Leaved French. The best variety. Pkt. .10 Oz. For early use, sow in April or May ; but, as it is mostly used quite late in autumn, it will be in time if not sown before June or July. Any good soil will suit endive, and it does not require much manure. When large enough, transplant into rows fifteen inches apart, set- ting the plants eight or ten inches apart. As it is not much used, except as a salad, it needs to be thoroughly blanched. When of full size, tie all the leaves into a bunch at the extreme top; in a few weeks it will be ready for use. It can be blanched more quickly and thor- oughly by placing boards so as to exclude the light from it. Green Curled. One of the best varieties ; nicely curled.
