AUSTIN, Texas - (Dec. 19, 2017) Lt. Cmdr. Michael Stroud (left) of Waco, Texas, a Navy Nurse Corps recruiter assigned to Navy Recruiting District (NRD) San Antonio, stands with Commanding Officer Cmdr. Jeffrey Reynolds after being awarded NRD's Medical Officer Recruiter and Division Officer of the Year for Fiscal Year 2017 during the NRD’s annual award banquet held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. Stroud, a psychiatric nurse, who graduated from Texas Tech Health Sciences Center in 2007, joined America’s Navy in 2009 to work in the mental health field. Stroud takes his job very seriously and reminds his enlisted recruiters that they change lives on a daily basis. “It is a great honor to be recognized,” said Stroud. “But the Division Officer of the Year means the most because it’s about me taking care of my Sailors and their families.” Additionally, Stroud was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for his superior performance of duty.
