Manchester. 12th. November 2016: Unite Against Fracking National Rally - An estimated 1,500-2,000 antifracking protesters, including Bianca Jagger and Bez from Happy Mondays, braved the rain to march through Manchester city centre to Castlefields Arena where Bianca Jagger and Andy Burnham, Labour MP for Leigh and Labour's nominee to be the first elected Mayor of Greater Manchester in the May 2017 mayoral election, gave passionate speeches against fracking to the large crowd assembled in the arena. Andy Burnhams constituancy of Leigh is a former mining area in Greater Manchester. Other speakers included Green party members and members of antifracking communities. Protesters came from as far as Scotland with one couple attending from the South of France. Anti-fracking campaigners gathered in Casltlefields Arena listening to the speeches.
