Paine, and Second Brigade, consisting of Twenty-second Illinois In-fantry, and Fifty-first, Colonel Camming commanding. On the 13tli, made a reconnoig->;ance in force, and, Hth, New Madrid was evacuated by the enemy. April 7th, moved ngainst No. 10. 8ih, pursued the enemy, compelling the pur-rendcr of General Mackall, and 4000 prisoners. 9th, return
