This photograph displays both an unusual perspective and some less common subject matter: an outdoor action shot of a woman physcially exerting herself. In 1888, the Kodak camera allowed amateurs to shoot scenes that had once been taken only by professional photographers. This broadened the range of subject matter and allowed for a more spontaneous documentation of daily life.
