Menacuddle Holy Well, St. Austell, Cornwall


Plaque on the well reads: AD1921 This Ancient Baptistry with the adjoining lands was presented by Rear Admiral Sir Charles John Graves Sawle, Baronet, (of Penrice) to the Churchwardens of the Parish of St. Austell to be preserved by the Trustees for the inhabitants of the Parish. In memory of his only son Richard Charles Graves Sawle, Esquire Lieutenant of the Coldstream Regiment of Footguards, who was killed in action at Ypres, Belgium, on the 2nd November 1914
