Some writers advise washing forthree minutes in a i : 500 bichloride of mercury solution, as an additional pre-caution after the oxalic acid is washed off (Halsted, 1899). 3. (i) A paste is made by mixing water with chlorinated lime; the hands arerubbed thoroughly with this, and (2) meanwhile a lump of sodium carbonateis picked up and rubbed in with the mixture, until a sensation of coolness is felt. (3) A hand-brush is now used with the solution for several minutes, and (4) the hands washed in sterile water and then in (5) alcohol or weak ammonia.
