An abandoned cabin in the town of Tower, east of Philipsburg, Montana.

An abandoned cabin in the town of Tower, east of Philipsburg, Montana. Mining for gold started in Tower in the 1870s. Later strikes of manganese help keep some of the area mines open until 1940. There are still a few residents and an active mine in Tower. Though many of the buildings in Tower are still standing, most are unoccupied and many are in disrepair. The town of Tower is located about a mile east of Philipsburg, Montana. This image was shot with an antique 3¼ inch Petzval lens and will show signs of distortion and softness, especially towards the edges. This is intentional and part of the aesthetic.
