The stone, turreted Fettercairn Arch was erected in 1864 to commemorate the Royal visit. Fettercairn (Gaelic: Fothair Chàrdainn) is a small village in northeast Scotland. It is marketed as the Jewel of the Mearns. It is located northwest of Laurencekirk in Aberdeenshire on the B966 from Edzell. Fettercairn is also reached via the Cairn O' Mounth road (B974) from Deeside.
