In 1947 the Allied Armies of Occupation issued a series of 'Peace Dove' stamps, one of which is seen here rising from the broken shackled hands of the German people. The Deutsche Post, under Allied control, ran from 1945 to 1949. From a collection of German stamps bought in the UK in the early 1950s.
