The patient made an excellent and rapid recovery, andwent out on the 27th of April. An inspection of the tumor after removal showedthat it was composed partly of mucous membrane, partlyof a substance resembling cartilage and bone. A few months since patient was again seen, and therecovery found to be MI0R0300PIC 375 TIMKS LINEAB. GBDNOW. I recommended removal, and on the 15th of April, Buck, L. Weber, S. B. Ward and others beingpresent, I made an incision through the mucous mem-brane, on each side, at the base of the alveolar pro-cess, then extracted the superior right central andlatleral incisors, and then, by means of the gouge forceps,or rongeur, cut away the alveolar process until a smoothsurface of apparently healthy bone remained. The wis-dom tooth in that vicinity also required extraction. The hemorrhage was moderate, and checked by pres-sure of lint soaked in liquor ferri persulph. It would seem as if some difi5culty might always beanticipated during these operations in the mouth, fromchoking by blood and saliva, but it is probable that theposterior part of the mouth is often closed by the tongue, while breathing takes place through the nose. By lyingupon the back and taking water into the mouth it maybe tested that
