Picture dated December 9th shows the KingÕs College choir in Cambridge going to rehearsal on Thursday afternoon for the famous carol service at KingÕs College chapel which will be broadcast on Christmas Eve. Choristers have been rehearsing for the BBC recording of the word-famous carol service at KingÕs College chapel which will be broadcast on Christmas Eve. The boys have spent weeks practicing for the 90-minute Carols from KingÕs service and final preparations were put in place at todayÕs (Thurs) dress rehearsal. The choristers, who were smartly dressed in their cassocks, were seen parading into the chapel in the grounds of Cambridge University this afternoon. Fourteen adult Choral Scholars join the 16 boy choristers to sing at the historic service, which has been televised by the BBC for 67 years. The carol service is attended by members of the college and is by invitation only. But last year there was no congregation for the first time in its history due to restrictions brought in by the coronavirus pandemic. The choir was founded in the 15th century and is one of the best-known choral groups in the world. Carols from Kings was first shown in 1954 and will be broadcast around the world on BBC2 to more than 10 million people on Christmas Eve. It is separate from A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, which is a service that takes place on Christmas Eve in the Chapel and which is broadcast live on radio around the world.
