Students from Booker Elementary School and Chesapeake Bay Foundation members lay oyster shells during an oyster planting event at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Va., June 8, 2017. The new reef, built near the Langley Air Force Base marina, measured approximately 25 feet by one foot, satisfying the young oysters’ need of a hard surface to settle and grow.
