Mr. Macfarlane—the first artist to hold theposition of municipal organist in this country—gave a recital on Wednes-day night which proved an inspiring introduction to the evening meet-ing. . The congregational singing at City Hall was conducted by , who also trained a chorus of young people whose performance wasgreatly appreciated, but was heard all too little.
