A flintlock pistol, Johann Steckel, Wiener Neustadt, circa 1730. Round barrel with smooth bore in 15 mm calibre with a silver front sight. Chiselled decoration at the breech. The barrel rib is signed, "IOHAN STECKEL A NEYSTATT". Flintlock finely engraved with hunting scenes and another signature (top jaw and cock screw replacements). Lavishly carved walnut stock with horn nose cap and gilded bronze furniture. The side plate bears a bust. The butt cap shows a grotesque mask in relief. Original wooden ramrod with horn tip.
