MCAS FUTENMA, OKINAWA, Japan – Capsules of 2-chlorobenzalmalononitrile, or CS gas, are counted before Marines go into the gas chamber Jan. 11 on Marine Corps Air Station Futenma, Okinawa, Japan. The capsules are broken on a hot pan inside of the gas chamber, allowing the powder to burn and release gas. In the event of a gas attack, Marines need to know how to calmly react and dawn their masks properly. ( Marine Corps photo by Pfc. Kelcey Seymour)
