This changebecame more conspicuous, as we proceeded afterwards in ourjourney. There was a greater degree of cleanliness amongthe people altogether, contrasted with the external appearanceof the country. The land itself is dreary as far as Lidkoping;and cultivation seemed here to be neglected.
