The mid-July Robbers Fire near Colfax/Forest Hill in Northern California was one of the first of the 2012 fire season. Responding to the call was the Los Alamitos, Joint Force Training Base, 1st Battalion, 140th Aviation Regiment (Air Assault) unit, who sent a UH-60 Black Hawk crewed by pilot, Chief Warrant Officer 5 Chris Trautwein, co-pilot, Chris Aylstock, 1st Sgt. During the fight leaders from CAL FIRE, the California National Guard, and other key agencies met up at the bases to survey the operations, get briefed on what is working or what they need, and to thank those who are in the air, on the line, and all the behind the scenes support staff that keep everything moving. CAL FIRE had key personnel working with our crews to call the drops like Helicopter Manager, Fire Captain Mark Kalisek.
