Taking the advice of Former-Congressman Toby Moffett Congressman Joe Courtney (D-CT) chose to get his own apartment an English basement in Capitol Hill rather than live in a dorm-style apartment with other freshman members of Congress. Courtney pays out of his own pocket as the office budget is not permitted to be used for personal purchases and keeps a very sparse apartment eating mostly take-out and watching the occasional TV show like Fox's 24. Courtney won by the smallest margin of all democrats victorious in the recent mid-term elections taking back control of Congress. Courtney takes part in a phone-press conference following the House's passing of a $ billion war supplemental that would set a timetable for the withdrawal of troops from Iraq. The vote was 218-212.
