Private Gibbon of the Signal Corps captured this photograph (#17463) on July 21, 1918. It depicts members of the 5th Field Signal Battalion, 3rd Division, arriving at Chateau Thierry in France on Harley Davidson motorcycles. Their objective was to establish communication stations. First Lieutenant William H. Horb can be seen in a car leading the group. The photograph was cleared by the Censor on August 13, 1918.
