The pack to-day is practically made upof Belvoir Weathergage, and Southwold Freeman,each considered by the man who hunted them to be the best ever seen on the line of a fox. A quickhound with no lumber has been the type aimed at,. Southwold Whalebone, 1908. best adapted to show sport in a country where thegoing is very holding, and the fences strong. A day spent on the Southwold kennel flags withMr and Mrs Rawnsley in May 1913, was full of interestand instruction. Our host on that occasion wasgoing on crutches, recovering from the effects ofa smashed leg received from the kick of a horsewhen hunting hounds the previous season. The total strength of the kennel is 41 couples,the dogs being drawn separately, the bitches looked H 114 THE FOXHOUND OF THE XXth CENTURY through collectively. There is a very workman-like look about the hounds, clean necks, shoulders,and deep fore-ribs, to satisfy the eye.
