Almost along the entire front ofthe North Shore there is to be had this rare combination, so satisfying to the country dweller who does notwillingly abandon either the stretch of bay or open seaon the one hand or the brushwood on the other. From Flushing, on past Whitestone, (Ireat Neck and Manhasset, clearup to Port Washington, there is a charming variety of scenery which initself offers a sufficient excuse for these pages. It is perhaps idle, however, to attempt to generalize too largely in theattraction of the North Shore, for if the entire truth be told the readerwill almost certainly appraise the tribute as a piece of special pleadingtoo partisan in nature. On the other hand, if a reasonable restraint beexercised, the story will fail in the telling.
