The same can be observed in different Murman coast areas for the Cyprina islandica community {Table 74). Here too the haddock's preference for some types of food is fairly evident. It is not clear whether the sea-bottom material gets into the haddock's in- testines from the animals on which it feeds and thrives (brittle stars and Phascolosoma feed on the sea bottom), or is seized with the animals consumed, or is swallowed as such. Echinoderms become less and less important in haddocks' nutrition as they proceed to the east; they are replaced by small molluscs and polychaetes. Table 72.
