The leaves and stems of the beet and turnip contain a great deal more fiber than their roots. The grasses contain les$ fiber than straws and more than roots. Stems of plants usually contain a comparatively large amount of fiber. Old plants contain more fiber than young plants because the cell walls of old plants are thicker than in young plants.
