Lady Jane Grey (1536 – 1554), also known as the Nine-Day Queen was an English noblewoman and de facto monarch of England and Ireland from 10 July until 19 July 1553. Establishment loyalties switched to Mary I (1516 – 1558) who became Queen of England. Following Mary's accession, Lady Jane Grey was accused of treason and on the morning of 12 February 1554, was taken to Tower Green, inside the Tower, to be beheaded.
