After these have been cut across, the tendo Achillis should bedivided; but its section should be made last, as it steadies the foot, andtlius facilitates the division of the tibial tendons. In most cases theplantar fascia is contracted, and requires division wherever it feels tenseand projecting. In the section of the tibialis posticus tendon behindthe ankle, there is much danger of wounding the posterior tibial artery,which lies close to it. The best way to a
