Blenheim Palace, Woodstock, Oxfordshire, England, Great Britain: View on The Column of Victory ( 1730 ). It is built in the Northern part of the landscaped park surrounding Blenheim Palace. The Column of Victory is crowned by a lead statue of the 1st Duke of Marlborough and depicts him dressed as a Roman general. It is 134 ft (41 m) high and terminates a great avenue of elms leading to the palace, which were planted in the positions of Marlborough's troops at the Battle of Blenheim. Blenheim Palace was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987.
