1920 - The remains of Alderman Terence MacSwiney (Died Oct 25) , Sinn Fein activist being repatriated to Cork after dying in prison during a hunger James MacSwiney aka Toirdhealbhach Mac Suibhne; (1879 – 1920) was an Irish author, playwright, and politician who became Sinn Féin Lord Mayor of Cork during the Irish War of Independence in 1920 before being arrested by the British government under the Defence of the Realm Act . He died in Brixton Prison after 74 days on hunger strike.
