The skin is smooth and colored a brilliant red from stem to calyx, and does not bruise easily. Its ripening season is about with Wealthy or a little earlier. It is sub-acid in flavor and is an excellent cooking apple. The apple is shaped nearly like a Stayman. being a little longer from calyx to stem.
