Smith is bringing in some fine carnations, the best that the city has seen for some time. He finds a ready sale at all times for them. W. J. B. BOCHESTEB, N. Y. The Market. A fair amount of business has been transacted during the last week, in- cluding the St. Patrick's day trade, which was in advance of that of last year. Large quantities of potted sham- rocks were sold and the call for white carnations for coloring was heavy. Some white sweet peas and white roses were also colored, but carnations seem to color best and are as satisfactory as can be wished for. The market is well supplied with about all kinds of stock, and most of it is arriving in fairly good condition. Eoses are fine, except some of the yellows, which after the second day take on a faded, washed-out ap- pearance. Beauties are fine in color and fancy stock brings fancy prices.
