The all-painted church of Aghios Athanasios, in Preveza town, Epirus, Greece.
When you take a walk around the picturesque alleys of the old town of Preveza, you might not notice the church of Aghios Athanasios, there's nothing very impressive about it from the outside. But once you get inside you 'll be surprised by seing the whole church, walls and ceiling painted with bright colours. only the floor remains unpainted. The most surprising part is the wooden ceiling, with 15 paintings "telling stories" from the Bible. The church was decorated by an anonymous iconographer around 1780. The church of Aghios Athanasios, was the only church that remained untouched from the total destruction of the town in 1798 by the Turk-albanian army of Ali Pasha. The destruction of the town is know as "Ο Χαλασμός της Πρέβεζας" ("o chalasmos tis Prevezas").
